Environmental Professionals Network SIGNATURE EVENT- Women In Conservation

Ohio State's 2019 Environmental Professionals Network Signature Event highlights the role that female conservationists have played in leading humanity’s protection and improvement of natural resources. Female global icons symbolize much of the environmental movement of the 20th century, such as Rachel Carson, Dr. Jane Goodall and Wangari Maathai. These women actively worked to improve our response to environmental pollution and social equity through environmental protection and justice, and they have inspired millions in the environmental movement worldwide. We all personally know women in our own organizations, communities and neighborhoods that have driven many improvements to our environment, despite the still existent glass ceilings that most often feature men in formal positions of leadership. The environmental movement of the 21st century looks, feels and is different than the previous century’s. Learn from two leading women who have helped to shape the more diverse and more effective community of environmental professionals of the past, today and tomorrow. Frances Beinecke and Michelle DePass will focus on a wide range of environmental topics, including climate change and environmental justice. These conversations will be facilitated by Heather Taylor-Miesle.
