The Ohio State University College of Nursing is excited to announce the fourth biennial EBP National Summit hosted by the Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare.
Transforming Healthcare Through Evidence-based Practice
Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your EBP work!
This National Summit will be held on May 24-26, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio. Take advantage of this opportunity to share your expertise in evidence-based practice through a podium presentation during concurrent sessions or a poster presentation.*
The Fuld Institute for EBP is a national hub for the formation, teaching and dissemination of best practices to improve healthcare quality, safety, costs and patient outcomes.
Themes for the 2023 National Summit include:
- EBP in Clinical Settings
- New for 2023: EBP Initiative to Address a Leadership Issue
- Leading an EBP Initiative
- New for 2023: Person-Centered Care
- Research about EBP (or) Research on Implementation/Translation Science
- New for 2023: Teaching, Evaluating, and/or Innovating in Education in Academic or Clinical Settings
Note that sections in the application have a 1000 character limit.
In addition to seeking abstract submissions on the themes of EBP in Clinical Settings, EBP Initiatives to Address a Leadership Issue, Leading an EBP Intiative, Person-Centered Care, Research about EBP or on Implementation/Translation Science and Teaching, Evaluating, and/or Innovating in Education in Academic or Clinical Settings, the Fuld Institute for EBP encourages submissions that uncover more than healthcare disparity but rather solutions that are evidence-based, including work that has a positive impact on historically under-served populations and on delivering equity in healthcare and education.
* One hour themed concurrent sessions consistent of three different 15-minute presentations with 5 minutes of question and answer after each presentation. Poster presenters have dedicated time for attendees to visit the poster area each day of the Summit.
Rubrics and Application Links
Clinical Call For Abstracts
Submit your abstract for the Clinical category if your EBP initiative addressed a clinical practice problem and has implications for others in clinical practice settings.
EBP Initiative to Address a Leadership Issue Call For Abstracts
Submit your abstract for the EBP Initiative to Address a Leadership Issue category if your EBP initiative addressed a leadership problem and has implications for organizational leadership, structure, and/or culture.
Leading an EBP Initiative Call For Abstracts
Submit your abstract for the Leading an EBP Initiative category if you led an evidence-based initiative in any clinical setting/environment.
Person-Centered Care Call For Abstracts
Submit your abstract to the Person-Centered Care category if your research, quality improvement, or EBP initiative focuses on person-centered care (PCC) in any setting. Person- and family-centered care puts the patient and family at the heart of every healthcare decision and empowers them to be genuine partners in their healthcare (Institute for Healthcare Improvement, 2021). For example, abstracts may describe programs or initiatives that address shared decision making, community engagement strategies or health literacy from a PCC perspective.
Research Call For Abstracts
Submit your abstract to the Research about EBP or on Implementation/Translation Science category if your submission describes findings from an IRB-approved research study that aimed to generate new knowledge about implementation science and/or evidence-based practice (EBP). Submissions should include research descriptors such as specific aims or research questions, hypotheses, study design, population, and methods, statistical analysis, presentation of results and implications for practice and future research.
Teaching, Evaluating, and/or Innovating in Education in Academic or Clinical Settings Call For Abstracts
Submit your abstract to the Teaching, Evaluating, and/or Innovating in EBP Education in Academic and Clinical Settings category if your submission describes work done in any realm meant to further EBP education in the academic or clinical setting. Submissions should include descriptors about your evidence-based approach to identifying your teaching strategy or teaching innovation. (Teaching innovation is identified as innovation after discovering a gap in the literature and you needed to take action to integrate a skill/concept of EBP into the curricula while preparing to engage in research to measure your innovation). Education program evaluation submissions should focus on your approach to either evaluation of an education program teaching EBP or an education program evaluation where you're evaluating an evidence-based approach to teaching a topic (and therefore building the body of evidence around evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning).
